一、词汇量不足，用词不准确
有一点我们很清楚，写作文我们只可能写自己会的单词和句子。很多同学可能是努力程度不够或者是不喜欢背单词，词汇量比较差，这就导致了在写作的时候思路是清晰的但卷面上写不出东西来，绞尽脑汁只好用别的简单词代替，最后写出来的文章用词幼稚甚至出错，表达也不是很到位。
同学们在写作时大多用的都是简单句和并列句。“我做了什么”，“然后又做了什么”，“最后如何如何”，显得文章很单调。这点与学生们接触到的句型数量和掌握程度有关，与老师们的指导理念也有一定的关系。本身初一学生的句型掌握水平就比较一般，很多老师为了稳定成绩也选择鼓励学生多用简单句，如果在随后的教学中一直维持这种状态不做转变，学生们很容易就会形成一种固定思维，写作时自然而然的就全用简单句了。
三、写作缺乏逻辑性，顺序混乱
学生们在写作的时候思路不够清晰，往往是看完一遍题目就直接下笔，想到哪里写哪里，使得文章结构和布局等等都不合乎逻辑。句子与句子之间也没有流畅的衔接，好像就是把许多单句拼凑在一起一样。
四、书写不够规范

一堂写作课，可以按照以下三个阶段去进行准备：
（一）准备阶段
准备阶段的教学目标是让学生在教师的指导下全面分析、掌握材料，形成写作提纲。具体内容包括：阅读、分析有关材料；交流观点；圈定要点；拟出写作提纲。笔者在这一阶段的教学中是采用下列方法体现学生主体作用，指导学生写作训练的：首先，教给他们如何扩大词汇量和英语惯用法；其次，教他们掌握英语基本句型，尤其是动词句型；接着，教他们动笔前如何分析材料、审题；再次，教他们利用已知的知识背景，用不同的词和结构表达思想；然后，教他们如何评品一篇作文和教他们阅读时记笔记。上述每一件事都是由学生完成的，能极有效地提高学生的写作能力。教师的指导作用表现在决定学生该干什么，指导学生如何干，纠正学生的错误。
（二）写作阶段
写作阶段的教学目标是要求学生在充分准备的基础上进行文字写作实践。这一阶段的具体内容包括：拟草稿；自检错误；推敲文字然后初步定稿。
